February 2018: The Month In Review

February 2018: The Month In Review

I had such high hopes for February 2018. An entire month of posts on the topic of love. Books about love, writing love, why all readers should give books focused on love a chance etc. But that wasn’t to be and the second month 2018 turned out to be quite dull both behind the scenes and here at the Eclectic Little Dork.

So let’s get the monthly break-down underway and, as always, please be aware that this post may contain affiliate links. You can read my Affiliate Disclaimer for more information.

Eclectic Little Dork’s stats for the month are as follows:

  • I wrote two posts.
  • There were 154 visitors to the blog.
  • The bounce rate for the month was 73.81%.

Considering 275 people visited the blog in January and I did twice as much writing last month, I’m not entirely thrilled with the outcome. But as I didn’t manage my time especially well. Well, let’s just say that I can’t complain too much. Besides, I appreciate every one of those visitors that I did manage to get while being way too lazy for someone trying to grow their blog. Especially someone who considers it both a business and a passion.

Laziness aside, I did manage to do something during February. Pick my theme for March…Tolkien!

And without tooting my own horn too much, I think this month is going to be the most fun yet that I’ve had with Eclectic Little Dork. There are book reviews, book chats, food posts, and writing advice posts planned out that I hope everyone will enjoy.

My Life During February 2018

My birthday was near the end of the month and gifts are still trickling in, including a copy of Lauren Owen’s The Quick that a friend ordered for me as a gift.

I also managed to finish what I’m calling my Hobbit or Halfling sweater. An oversized cocoon-style sweater crocheted out of Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool in Nature’s Brown, it reaches down past my butt and is extremely comfortable. Though, I do admit that I’m slightly disappointed this range of undyed yarn does not include a charcoal grey or black. Either would’ve been even more perfect for my Gothic Hobbit nature, but I still love it and fully expect to get years of use out of this sweater. I’m even considering a summer weight version or one done in perhaps lama or alpaca.

Why, yes, yes I am a creature of habit much like a Hobbit is. I like to think of it as part of my charm. Something that draws you into the blog just like my conversation style of writing has.

February 2018 Writing

You would think that not being all that active on Eclectic Little Dork and my life being quiet means I did plenty of writing during February. And you would be 100% wrong.

I didn’t write nearly as much as I wanted to, nor did I do much research into where I could submit existing pieces. My goal of submitting both a poem and a short story a month is quickly turning to dust. But I’m hoping to pull things around in March and do at least a few sentences or a verse of poetry each day. So I’ll see how that goes and report back in April’s March review.
